Rubaiyat For Marilyn

Can I Match Her Poetry? by Mickey Mantle

My Whitester gal from Tennessee

Always seems to challenge me

By writing verse so fine so sweet

Can I match her poetry?

***
The Rubaiyat was such a treat

The rhyme and rhythm were complete

Within it's lines her tale of flight

To New York where at last we meet.

***
We were so busy the first night

lapped up tuna juice and ham delight

My snort-eating made her smile

Her Mickeybear was quite a sight!

***
Next day we relaxed a while

My Marilyn gave the wall a trial

her head moved up and over ... back

'Til she was upside down MonREOW style.

***

Sun kissed Whitesters we lost track

of time ... but Marilyn was summoned back

by her loving Mom and waiting Dad

Who both have the scritches knack.

***
Although she left me I am glad ...

To have entertained her at my "pad"

I'll reread her poems and wonder what next

Poetic challenge she'll present this lad.

My darling Mickeybear,

Oh, my sweet dear, that is an interlocking Rubáiyát par excellence -- you are fabulously talented, and your wit, your masterful rhyme scheme, and your eloquence make my heart go pitter pat! I'm blown away by your wordsmithery, and I'm all a-swoon!

And *giggle*, I love how you worked your snort-eating into the poem! You're so adorable how you snort when you eat. It is but one of your countless endearing qualities!

I love your imagery, too -- "sun-kissed Whitesters". Mmmmm, just purr-fect!

Love and whisker-kisses from your Kittypie!

p.s. -- I'm contemplating our next poetic challenge -- I can promise you, it will be fun *smile*!

My darling Mickeybear,

I hope you don't have trouble posting pictures today! Maybe Blogger had some kind of glitch yesterday -- my mom has run into that before, too, but it never lasted long.

But if you can't post pictures today, leave me a comment on my blog and tell me what Blogger is doing when you try -- I might be able to help. I would certainly try *smile*.

Love and whisker-kisses from your Kittypie!
