I'm becoming one with my environment.

Do you see my left ear?

I'm listening to the birds in my yard.

They're beautiful, Marilyn.

I'm looking forward to Brainball's Gottcha Day Party tomorrow at 12:01 AM

What is a nerd?

This week's New York Times Magazine had an article titled Who's a Nerd, Anyway? I read it with great interest because the subtitle is "Someone very, very white, for one thing."

Yes ... Marilyn ... I am a nerd.

My Sestina to Marilyn

Marilyn goes to my blog whispering *purrrrrrr*.
Now my girlcat is having a *giggle* ...
and she's wearing a big Whitester *smile*
(while her mom's in the background saying “SQUEE”)
because (I must admit I have to *blush*)
she's biggifying my Full Monty! (*wink*)

Truth is I posed for my "kittypie" (*wink*)
'cause thoughts of her make me relax and *purrrrrrrr*!
Although my “wow” pose might make others *blush*,
I can just hear my sweet girlcat *giggle*.
(There’s her mom in the background saying “SQUEE”
her sense of humor always makes me *smile*!)

Through the blogosphere, in fact, cats will *smile*
as Marilyn does something wonderful (*wink*)
(there’s her mom in the background saying “SQUEE”
while Duallipot throws her head back saying *purrrrrrrr*)

I must say her special pose makes me *giggle* …
and my "mancat pose" always makes me *blush*

Thoughts of our relationship make me *blush*.
Our poetry makes other cats *smile*.
ometimes our poems create quite a *giggle*...
We are witty and clever felines! (*wink*)
We make ourselves laugh and laugh and say *purrrrrrr*
(while in the background someone's saying “SQUEE!”)

I wonder where the sound comes from … that “SQUEE”.
When her mom says it, does she also *blush*
thinking of our kittycat amour (*purrrrrrrrr*)?
Or, does our poetry put a *smile*
on her face? “Micklyn's” quite a twosome (*wink*) ...
our poetry elicits a *giggle!*

Wait! … Is that my mom? … do I hear a *giggle*?
And what sound does she make? … Is it a “SQUEE”????
She's in on this mancat poetry (*wink*)!
While my Full Monty might make others *blush*,
my pose and prose always makes my mom *smile*!
“If I were a cat”, she says, “I'd say *purrrrrrrr*.”

Marilyn and Thomma Lyn *wink* ... Mom and I *giggle*.
We cats will *purrrrrrrr* and our moms will “SQUEE”*.
Our ways might cause a *blush* … but always bring a *smile*!

the roof ... continued (if you read Jeter's post first!)

Jeter is so excited about the roof ...
but might I remind you ...
I taught him everything he knows about roof walking and coming through the bathroom window.
Here is what I saw this morning when I looked outside the bathroom window.

In Jeter's words: "verree eksitin"!

Fully Friday

I can do the full monty anywhere, Marilyn.
Here I am doing it on my favorite red chair.
I'm not sure you should biggify.
It might be disturbing.

A proverb is a simple and concrete saying popularly known and repeated, which expresses a truth, based on common sense or the practical experience of mankind. They are often metaphorical.

My sweet girlcat Marilyn tagged me for a meme ... here is my proverb

The crash of a lamp at 4:30 am will always get a cat an early breakfast.

I know you think this sweet cat could never do anything like knocking a lamp to the floor at 4:30 am ....

Has my Donnyboy been tagged yet?

I am practicing my "Q" and my "Full Monty"

Rubaiyat For Marilyn

Can I Match Her Poetry? by Mickey Mantle

My Whitester gal from Tennessee

Always seems to challenge me

By writing verse so fine so sweet

Can I match her poetry?

The Rubaiyat was such a treat

The rhyme and rhythm were complete

Within it's lines her tale of flight

To New York where at last we meet.

We were so busy the first night

lapped up tuna juice and ham delight

My snort-eating made her smile

Her Mickeybear was quite a sight!

Next day we relaxed a while

My Marilyn gave the wall a trial

her head moved up and over ... back

'Til she was upside down MonREOW style.

Sun kissed Whitesters we lost track

of time ... but Marilyn was summoned back

by her loving Mom and waiting Dad

Who both have the scritches knack.

Although she left me I am glad ...

To have entertained her at my "pad"

I'll reread her poems and wonder what next

Poetic challenge she'll present this lad.

Marilyn is an actress! Please go here to see her in her acting debut. I'm so proud of her!

My wall

This is one of my favorite poses atop "my wall"
Over the years ... my wall has ... well ...
let's just say ... my wall wasn't doing too well!
The wood was rotting and there wasn't a comfortable place for me to lie down and relax.
My mom took pictures and presented them to my dad ... who thought the wall had "character" when it looked like this!

Earlier this year ... the old wall was replaced with a new one.I must say ... I'm glad my dad finally listened to my mom.

This new wall is a fantastic place to sit on ... relax on ... and reflect on my next poem to Marilyn.

ps--I just adopted a virtual Squillion. I hope you like it Marilyn

Ashamed ...

I'm slightly embarrassed by my behavior yesterday.

I will, however, submit my "full monty" to Monty Q's contest.

What the heck!

Practicing the Full Monty

I am practicing my Monty Q. poses.
This is the beginning of the Full Monty ...
This, however, is about as Full Monty as I get.

What do you think?

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Am I really a schmoozer?

If this is a schmoozer .....

... can this be a schmoozer?
OK Pablo. Maybe I'll accept your kind nomination! Thank you.

A Dog Came to Visit ... and this Mancat was Fine!

Yes ... it's true ... there was a canine in my yard yesterday.
He was unusually tall ... and very active.
He was quite anxious to see me!
But I was a cool mancat and waited for him to calm down ...
and then, for him to leave!

I am not fazed by dogs ... like other members of my family.

marilyn wrote a most fabulous rubaiyat for me.

Thank you Marilyn.

While waiting for the Squillion Contest to begin ...

I saw these young "frootbats" on Skeezix's blog and I thought ...

... do they resemble me?

What do you think Marilyn?

Am I, too, a frootbat?

Poetic Mancat

Thank you Marilyn ... for giving me your special award.
You are my inspiration.

Two Whitesters

Donny-boy tagged me for a meme.
I think it's a tough one for a mancat like me.
I'll give it a try because I'm just that kind of a guy!

What were you doing 10 years ago?
I wasn't born yet ... but a year later ... watch out world!

What were you doing 1 year ago?
One year ago I was working very diligently as the administrator of the Pure White Kitty Club.
(A position I still, proudly, hold!)

5 snacks you enjoy
tuna juice, Temptations, ham, turkey, Pounce

5 songs to which you know all the lyrics
"I Got You Babe", "Happy Birthday", "Take Me Out the the Ballgame", "New York, New York", "The Tennessee Waltz"

5 things you would do if you were a millionaire
Make a large donation to the "North Shore Animal League", adopt as many cats as possible from "Best Friends", book a vacation to Tennessee, take a few poetry classes, lifetime membership to "Catster"

5 bad habits
wake my mom up at 4:30 am, knock everything off the night table at 4:29 am, snort when i eat, continue to eat even when I'm full, jump up on the kitchen table when the 2-legs are trying to eat

5 things you like doing
waking my mom up at 4:30 am, knocking everything off the night table at 4:29 am, snorting when I eat, jumping up on the kitchen table when the 2-legs are trying to eat ... writing poetry

5 (4) things you would never wear again
I don't like to wear caps ... even Yankee caps, those sunglasses with the rhinestones, the pink wig (please don't be offended Anastasia), a flea collar ...

5 favorite toys
my stuffed mouse ... that's it. I have one favorite toy!

5 kitties to tag
I don't know who has been tagged ... I just went to Marilyn's place to tag her ... and I was surprised to discover that she had tagged ME!

and Marilyn ... a dingleberry? hmmmm.

Head Over Heels

I mentioned that my favorite poem by Marilyn is "Head Over Heels."
Here is Marilyn ... head over heels ...

and I'm head over heels, too!

What do you think Marilyn?

Karen Jo wrote a wonderful limmerick about me today. I'm so proud! Thank you Karen Jo!

Mickey Mantle loves to lie on the wall.

It's wide and comfy, so he doesn't fall.

And there he dreams

Of poetry schemes

To write for the kitty he loves most of all.

Marilyn tagged me for a meme. Here are the rules:

The Interview Meme

We are sure there are questions you have wanted to ask another cat but the opportunity never arose, well here is your chance!

Rules:You can ask one cat a question you have always wanted to know about them, they can choose to answer the question (anycat can decide not to play) and then they have to ask another cat something they would like to know about them.

If there is more then one cat on a blog you can only ask one cat, so the other cats can have a chance to get tagged.

Example:Cat A Question: What is favorite thing to do?
Cat B Answers: NapCat
B Asks Cat C: How old are you?

So Marilyn asked the following question:

Of the poems, I've written for you thus far, darling, which one is your favorite? Put another way, do you prefer my dreamy side, my whimsical side, or a combination of the two?

I love all Marilyn's poems. She is so very talented. My favorite was her "Tritina" and here it is:

Head Over Heels

I'm loveydovey in my head

Purrysnuggly under, around, and over

Straight down to my heels

But do cats have heels?

Doesn't matter because in my head

Resounds over and over and over

Triumphantly that love's never over

Love creates more love, so heels

Never matter to a smitten girlcat's head.

I'm giddy, mushy, and head over heels!

And now my question: This is for Daisy:

Daisy ... while I'm writing this I am also watching "My Cousin Vinny", one of my favorite movies. What is your favorite movie?

Sonny and Cher ... in PINK!

Ah, yes! Marilyn and I have accepted Anastasia's challenge.
I think we look like Sonny and Cher.

Marilyn ... "I got you Babe!"

Sunday, July 8, 2007

I'm sorry Marilyn ... I did lose my temper.
But I had to nap here ...

... when I wanted to nap here.

Yes, you did hear some growling ... but I gave in.

So Whitey got the hamper, and I settled for the step.

We Whitesters are, after all, very forgiving cats.

Miss Peach ... I did see that mosquito! Thank you for pointing it out! Nobody was bitten!

Saturday, July 7, 2007

These are for you Marilyn.
I woke my mom up at about 4:30 and asked her to take a picture for you.

4:30 might have been just a tad early this morning.
Sorry Mom!

Mao ... thank you for awarding me the Rockin' Boy Blogger award. I'm honored.

A new piece of equipment

I see there's a new receiver
That replaced the old one, you know
And she seems to like it just fine
My beautiful Miss MonREOW
The receiver is a Yamaha
The JVC had to go
But no cat can replace
My beautiful Miss MonREOW.
So "Farewell" to the JVC
to the Yamaha ... a hearty "Hello"
You seem like a comfortable perch
For my beautiful Miss MonREOW.

Cole ... a Mickey Mantle fan!

This is Cole ... Miss Peach's grandbean.

Looks great ... right?
I know you're a Red Sox fan, Cole ... but that great big Yankee shirt sure looks good!

And you look great with Miss Peach!

Thank you Marilyn.

Our brother Matsui is Missing Mom

Jeter tells me that Matsui is missing my mom.
She'll be home soon Matsui.

Marilyn is a shining star
she's pure white shining bright.
Whether she is near or far
her beauty's in my sight.

She's pure white shining bright ...
not tabby ... not calico.
Her beauty's in my sight ...
A pure white shining glow.

Not tabby ... not calico ...
Her coat is soft and pure.
A pure white shining glow ...
(and of this I am sure!)

Her coat is soft and pure.
Her whiteness is like snow.
And, of this I am sure,
Our kitty love will grow.

Her whiteness is like snow.
Whether she is near or far
Our kitty love will grow.
Marilyn is a shining star.

Sunday with Marilyn

Marilyn and I are having a wonderful time together today.
I am being very careful to show her the respect she deserves ... and I am keeping my paws to myself (although I really do want to put my arm around her!)
We are having fun on the wall reciting poetry to each other.
I'm one lucky Mancat!
