I was named for the great Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees.
"The Mick" has been my dad's idol since he was a little boy.

When my brother was adopted a week before Mom and Dad found me at the North Shore Animal League, Mom thought it would be cute to name him Whitey Ford, Mantle's teammate and best friend. When I was adopted, Mom (that's right ... the girl from Boston herself) decided I should be named for my dad's favorite baseball player of all time!
We sort of resemble one another!
What do you think Marilyn?ps ... in a very exciting game ... the Yankees beat the Red Sox tonight 8-7. I wish my brother Jeter was home to celebrate the victory with me.
