How I Got My Name

My beautiful Kittypie tagged me for a great meme ... and now that the Yankee/Red Sox game is over ... I can get to work on it!
I was named for the great Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees.
"The Mick" has been my dad's idol since he was a little boy.
When my brother was adopted a week before Mom and Dad found me at the North Shore Animal League, Mom thought it would be cute to name him Whitey Ford, Mantle's teammate and best friend. When I was adopted, Mom (that's right ... the girl from Boston herself) decided I should be named for my dad's favorite baseball player of all time!

We sort of resemble one another!

What do you think Marilyn?

ps ... in a very exciting game ... the Yankees beat the Red Sox tonight 8-7. I wish my brother Jeter was home to celebrate the victory with me.

My darling Mickeybear,

I loved reading about how you got your name -- and go, Yankees; I am a Yankees fan, too *smile*. I'm sure you're very excited, and I hope Jeter comes home soon so he can celebrate with you!

And wow, the resemblance between you and the human Mickey Mantle is amazing! It is particularly striking when seeing you both in profile. You are so handsome, my dear, that you take my breath away.

Much love, purrs and snugglecuddles from your Kittypie (the luckiest girlcat in the world *smile*)!

My sweet Mickeybear,

Oh yes, I did indeed see the newest photo-portrait -- isn't it gorgeous? I will put it on my blog tomorrow, too, darling!

More love and kisses from your Kittypie *purrrrrrr*
